Over time, exposure to UV rays and chlorine water will cause the water slide gelcoat to fade. You can delay this fading by making sure the slides are cleaned and waxed yearly, but eventually the gelcoat will fade where it can’t be brought back with yearly maintenance. Also, slides may end up wearing in places, where the gelcoat has worn away and the fiberglass becomes exposed. A faded slide isn’t a danger, but exposed fiberglass can be, so it is best to repair and resurface a slide before any fiberglass becomes exposed.
When SlidePros performs yearly maintenance, we submit a report of recommendations which includes our prediction as to the life of the water slide gelcoat so that the customer can budget for future water slide gelcoat repair and resurfacing.
Most of the time we can provide a quote without having to make a site visit if the customer can provide enough information about the slides. If it is a large project, or we feel we need to see the slides due to their unusual condition, then we will visit the site.
